Pancam mosaic close to the "El Capitan" region of the Opportunity outcrop. The mosaic was obtained on Sol 27 of Opportunity's mission, around 10:15 a.m. LST. It is an approximate true color composite from Pancam's red (600 nm), green (530 nm) and blue (480 nm) filters. This part of the outcrop is being studied in great detail using the instrument's on the rover's arm, and the Pancam images are helping to choose the location for this compositional work. The mosaic shows fine-scale detail of the millimeter-sized lamination in these rocks. The face of the rock on the right side of the mosaic may be a future target for RAT drilling. Jim Bell Pancam PEL
