This is a Pancam mosaic of high-resolution images of the distant horizon acquired on Sols 35 and 36 from the Opportunity rover. The mosaic begins to the East, pointed at the 200 m diameter crater that is about 700 m away from the landing site. Continuing to the south (right) in the mosaic, the heatshield and its impact mark can be seen at a distance of about 800 m (a half mile) from the landing site. Continuing on further to the south, the string of bounce marks left by the airbags can be seen extending away from the landing site. Near the mark just outside the landing site crater's rim, the largest rock around can be seen. This rock is about 40 cm across and is about 50 m from the rover's present position. This is an enhanced color composite acquired using Pancam's 750 nm, 530 nm, and 480 nm filters. Jim Bell Pancam PEL
