This image from the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity’s navigation camera was taken on its 71st sol on the red planet. Yestersol, the rover drove parallel to the sinuous trough in the plains of Meridiani Planum to get a closer look at its curious dimples. The rover then approached the pictured target area referred to as “Anatolia.” The rocks here, resembling those in the “Eagle Crater” outcrop, will be imaged in greater detail with the rover’s cameras.
